Scrub a Dub Dub!

One of my very favorite things to do with Max is to give him a bath. I look forward to it every time because we both enjoy it so much. Max loves the warm water and when I massage his back and head. He looks like he just melts and totally relaxes. Then he gets a lotion massage. There's nothing better than the smell of a baby and I don't think anyone would argue with that! After his bath, I put his jammies on, swaddle him tight, and we cuddle until he warms up. To me, this is one of the joys of motherhood.

Here are a few photos...

First Overnight Visit with Mimi and Pal

Mimi and Pal offered for Max to spend the night at their house Friday night and let Tyler and I go on a date. While I really wanted to go on a date, I couldn't imagine spending the whole night without Max. I was very hesitant to agree to it, but I thought it might be good for us all, and it was.

Tyler and I went on a date to a really nice sushi restaurant and it was delicious! We thought about going to a trendy bar afterward, but we were both so tired that we decided to go home instead. We ended up watching episodes of Entourage and falling asleep in our lazy boy chairs. Sounds like a dud of a date, but we were both really happy and it's exactly what we wanted to do!

Mimi and Pal had a ball with Max and this gave them the opportunity to spend more than a few hours at a time with him. They said they thoroughly enjoyed their time with him and want to do it again. Sounds good to me!

To round out the weekend, on Saturday, Grand mama, (Pal's mom), drove from Indiana to Pal and Mimi's house to stay for the weekend. She met Max and was instantly in love. This is her 4th great grandchild and she spent a lot of time rocking him and just loving on Max. We had a great visit with her and hope to see her again soon.

Spending some quality time with Mimi. Max's favorite thing is to swing on the porch swing. He loves it and will instantly stop crying when you start swinging!

Max got a Turbo Boost this week

We went to see the electrophysiologist, Dr. Radbill, this week. He gave Max a thorough assessment and then increased his heart rate from 90 to 110. He said Max seems to be doing great and is very pleased with how the incision is healing, and how the pacemaker is functioning, and also how well Max is growing. We weighed him and he now weighs 7lbs and 5 oz. He has gained almost 2 lbs in the last 5 weeks :) We don't have to go back to see Dr. Radbill for 2 months. When we go back, he will increase Max's pacemaker to 120. That's the goal for now; they won't continue to increase it after that.

Here are a few photos from last week...

Max is One Month Old

Max is one month old today. So much has happened in the past month, and now I can't imagine what life was like without him. We love him so much, and I know it's only going to get better everyday. The uncertainty of Max's condition was so scary for so long, but now that he has his pacemaker, we feel more confident with his condition and can focus on all the joys of having a new baby. Tyler and I are having so much fun learning how to be parents and getting to know our sweet baby boy. It certainly is hard work, but we are enjoying every moment. Well, almost every moment; those 2am crying spells are still tough :)

Here are a few photos of Max...

1 Month Old and More Drama

Daddy snuggle time
1 month old and lookin' handsome!

Max turned 1 month old on Tuesday and we planned on having a really nice day. We got up early, had a nice morning and then decided to take our first stroller walk through the neighborhood together. He loved it and slept the whole time. We were only gone for an hour, and when we got back home, I noticed something wasn't right in our house. WE HAD BEEN ROBBED! While we went on our walk, someone broke in our house and stole all of my jewelry. They took everything including my wedding rings and the ring Tyler bought me as a "push present." There are a lot of sentimental pieces that we can never replace that they took as well as all my everyday jewelry. Someone obviously watched me leave the house and then just let themselves in and filled their pockets. I can't believe it happened, but at least they only took jewelry. They didn't take anything else like electronics, cash, my purse, etc even though they had an opportunity to do so. We filed a report and are hoping the police will come up with some fingerprints. Tyler and I have to go to the police station next week to give them our fingerprints in case they come up with any on any of the evidence they confiscated. What a hassle! It would be really nice to just have a normal week with our new baby, but it seems we are pretty prone to drama.

"I didn't steal your stuff, Mom. I don't even have any pockets!"

Visits from Friends and Family

Alicia, Jonathan, and Ramsey also came to meet Max while they were in town last weekend.

Last weekend, Tyler's Uncle John decided to come visit us and meet Max. We have not seen him in about two years and we were very excited he wanted to come see us. He drove his Harley Davidson motorcycle all the way from Wisconsin to spend a day with us. We had a lot of fun just hanging out and catching up.
